Happy Halloween! We trick-or-treated the night away: a cowgirl, a lion and two big people. Time to take a break now, from the blog. And all-caps-post-titles. Today I was fortunate enough to be gifted with lunch at Moe’s Crosstown and a couple jars of actual, professional-like Jacquard Acid Dyes. Thought I’d break them open tonight but decided to wait until I’ve got a good color way figured out first. The Corn Puppy keeps reminding me that I will be thirty tomorrow and [...] “Oh look, it’s a giant magnifying glass focused on our human relations in the face of inhuman terror. Well, we’re not gonna give it anything to analyze!” Geeze, where’d that come from? Oh. It’s just that we watched The Mist this evening as a pre-Halloween treat and the movie pretty roundly took a good idea and [...] Tonight I finally fixed the grafting on my alpaca cowl/headband… and knitted a pair of cute wristies out of some homespun yarn that the Corn Puppy dyed several months ago. Feels good to have some finished objects and use up a small bit of yarn all in the same evening. and… this:Polaroid is coming back! This weekend the family went camping at Jones Gap State Park. Since we left a day late, we didn’t make it up to Fletcher for the fiber fair*… but we had a great time nonetheless. Turns out, the Corn Puppy is an excellent hiker. She tested her steps with adult precision and even waited patiently for [...] Today the Corn Puppy lost her first baby tooth! Unfortunately, we don’t know where it is. At any rate, the tooth fairy still made her rounds tonight. Also, we um… didn’t leave today because of rain in the forecast. Yes. The trip has been pushed to tomorrow. Time to rock and roll, for real. Tonight at Stitch n’ Bitch I traded in the Pick-up-Stix for a proper set of double pointed needles. Naturally, I became so entranced with my new-found knitting speed that I totally lost my place in the pattern and had to undo two rows of work. Fortunately the hat’s back on track. Tomorrow is the big day! [...] This evening we made our first charcoal fire ever, cooking up some yummy kebabs and corn on the cob. It felt good watching my family eat real food, even if I didn’t feel well enough to partake. For some reason my insides are turning out… so no more writing tonight. I’ll catch up with you later. Funds are low, but what do they know? I’ve decided to get up to Fletcher, NC for the Southeastern Animal Fiber Festival this weekend any old way. Instead of spending the night in a hotel room we’re going to go… drum roll, please… camping! I seriously have not been a-campin’ in eight long years. My daughters [...] |
