It all started with a road trip.
In the summer of 2001, I stuffed myself into a little Jetta with a couple friends and a dog. We drove from South Carolina to Idaho in under three days to camp for a month in the woods… with the sky for a ceiling and the hills for walls.
Somewhere in the middle of that trip, I heard a little phrase inside a radio commercial: “stars like joe”. I don’t know why it stuck out, but it has lived in my head ever since. When I started this blog and subsequent fiber venture, it seemed like a good place for that phrase to live.
The blog began when I was pretty much out of work due to the recession. In an attempt to keep my hands busy and sanity intact, I took on as many crafts as possible. I tried lots of things: sewing, crochet, needle-felting, cut paper, salt dough sculptures. I even took on ridiculous sustainable art projects that would later prove to be futile.
And I learned to knit. It was love.
From there, my obsessive need to do everything myself (some might call it a control issue) led me to begin spinning my own yarn… which then led naturally to an Etsy shop (for legitimizing my new addiction). Now I’ve just gone and got myself my very own domain name so I can spread the fiber love! It never ends!
Have a beautiful day,
Stephanie
