New Year’s list… and a giveaway!

It’s the New Year somewhere, right?

here we go:

  • be patient with my daughters and listen well to them
  • buy local / sustainable / handmade as often as possible
  • go back to college to finish anthropology degree
  • leave the lightest ecological footprint I can in all aspects of my existence
  • begin Pilates classes
  • volunteer in my community

I think that’s a pretty good list to keep around. It’s quality.

A few days ago it occurred to me that I was approaching the one-year anniversary for this blog. I’ve been thinking about the circumstances under which it started and all the change that has gone on in that time. It’s been fun and I hope it continues well into the future.

I’m doing a little birthday celebration giveaway for the next week. Anyone who leaves a comment from today through Thursday the 18th will be eligible to win a free *something* in a random drawing on Friday! It can be something you see in my little Etsy shop, a custom carded batt for spinning (I’ll post about it when I receive my drum carder in the next week or two)… or even a 100% castile soap, which I make a large batch of once or twice a year.

Please feel free to pass my little birthday giveaway to anyone you might feel would enjoy some fiber fun or castile soap!

Happy Birthday! I was so happy when my shop hit one year, and now I'm going on 6, and hopefully many more to go!

I can't wait to see what pretty things you come up with next, the colors you pick are always gorgeous!

Happy Birthday! I was just reading your twitter updates on the side, and I had to laugh about the bacon grease. I had a college housemate who kept hers, too, and one day it fell off the back of the stove and the mug she stored it in shattered, splashing grease all over the stovetop. It smelled AWFUL and we're all just very lucky the stove was OFF at the time! :)

    Happy Anniversary; that's so exciting!!

@ Jags – so cool that you've got a *bento* blog too! I spent a year of college in Japan and really came to appreciate them as an art form as well.

@Jess – haha! the plan was to use some wood ash and make a "real backwoods soap"… but honestly, what the hell would I really use it for?! I'm kind of scared to open the jar, honestly.

Hi! Happy Birthday and nice to meet you! I'm also a new 'phattie' and setting up shop at the moment. Subscribing to your blog now, looks entertaining :)

@ KellieBelle: dude, you are a *genetecist*?! Awesome. I wanted to do that when I was ten so I could cure my aunt's diabetes.

@ Heather: I think I may just have to order a stamp from you!

Happy Birthday! I'd love to try your 100% castile soap. I'm new to homemade soaps but it sounds awesome!
